We Hunt the Flame Mini Playlist

So some of my blog buddies from the We Hunt the Flame street team (Team Pelusia for the win!) and I decided to do a fun little challenge together! We each chose a song or two that we think best represented each member of the zumra (aka: squad)! If you haven’t ordered WHTF yet, GO DO IT IT’S SPECTACULAR!

Zafira: Rescue by Yuna

“Yeah, she’s got light in her face/She don’t need no rescuing, she’s okay/Yeah, she’s got life in her veins/She don’t need no rescuing, she’s okay.”

I think lyrically, this really describes how fierce and powerful Zafira is! Despite all the odds being stacked against her, she is still hunting for her people and she goes on a quest, proving she doesn’t need to be rescued!

Nasir: Human by Of Monsters and Men

“So breathe in, breathe out/Let the human in/The air is silk/Shadows form a grin/If I lose control I feed the beast within.”

Nasir really just needs a hug, poor guy! He struggled a lot with a darkness inside of him (rightfully so… since he IS an assassin!). But he also has to deal with a few other issues which I think these lyrics do a good job of capturing his essence!

Kifah: Warrior by Demi Lovato

“I’m a survivor In more ways than you know/’Cause all the pain and the truth I wear like a battle wound…”

Okay, I’d like to say there’s a lot of Demi’s songs that lyrically work with a few characters (at least for me… because I love her!)! Anyway, I think this really captures Kifah’s spirit and she was one of my favorite characters! She’s strong and I really hope to get to know her more!

Benyamin: The Weight of the Living Pt. 1 by Bastille

“Stepping forward out into the day/Shrugging off the dust and memory.”

For me, Benyamin was the HARDEST to find a good fit because there’s a lot we don’t know about his character, I feel like. He is so interesting (and funny) and I chose this song for a very specific reason. Without spoilers, let’s just say all the characters’ backstories are AMAZING.

Altair: Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato

“Baby, fineness is the way to kill/Tell me how it feel, bet it’s such a bitter pill.”

Somehow finding a song that really fit Altair was a real challenge! Like Harker, I chose a sassy Demi song because Altair is the ultimate sass master and honestly if looks could kill, we’d all be dead.

Bonus! You Will Find Me by Alex & Sierra. The vibe of that song and the lyrics honestly give me serious OTP vibes!

And The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel fits just the general vibe of the journey, though it fits the MCs pretty well!
