Adventures in May! Monthly Wrap-Up

May was a pretty hectic month for me! Most of the month corresponded with Ramadan, which I think went pretty well, though with exams coming it’s been a lot of juggling between trying to study and trying to make myself a better person (in terms of fasting).

My patience really ran thin when I was stuck in the worst ward rotation ever (and though Cardiology as a subject is great, going to the hospital and being taught nothing is NOT). On top of that, my university was being even more uncommunicative as usual and there was a lot of stuff about whether or not we would have exams in July or not (and just as I was coming to terms with annual exams… they switched us back to semesters–UGH).

BUT, I also got to come home to the States so I could celebrate Eid with my family for once! I surprised my mom and siblings and it was AWESOME. Being at home is great. I get to hang out with my family and ALSO I get to eat home food AND see my little library hehe.

Anyway, the month overall was pretty okay, though now I’m just STRESSED because exams are just around the corner and I don’t think I’ll ever be prepared! (PRAYERS NEEDED)

BOOKS

I participated in the #RamadanReadathon as well as the #AvengersReadathon and I think I did pretty well! (Though I have a few days left to finish the Ramadan readathon, I sadly wasn’t able to finish Spidey’s prompts for the Avengers readathon)

  • Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas 4/5🌟
  • Where I End and You Begin by Preston Norton 4.5/5🌟 (RTC)
  • Ms. Marvel Volume 4 and 5 by G. Willow Wilson 4/5🌟
  • The Marriage Clock by Zara Raheem 4.5/5🌟 (RTC)
  • The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak 3/5🌟
  • The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty 4/5🌟 (RTC)
  • Amina’s Voice by Hena Khan 5/5🌟 (RTC)
  • There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon 5/5🌟 (RTC)
  • Love From A to Z by S.K. Ali 5/5🌟 (RTC)

AND… that’s actually my whole wrap-up! I didn’t watch any TV/Movies because I was napping or studying whenever I could!

How was your month? Any fun adventures or great 5 star reads? Any recommendations?

  1. Oh, wow, that sounds hectic! I hope you’ll pull out just fine for the exams 💪 The Marriage Clock caught my eye, gonna check it out later 😊 I didn’t have such a good experience with City of Brass though. Funny thing, I JUST posted my wrap-up, too 😂 And I mentioned that book! Haha 😝 Man, how did you even read all that on top of everything?? You’re so much faster than me! I want to check out the Throne of Glass series, heard that ppl either love it or dislike it…One question, why did you give 3 stars for Elif Shafak’s book? (since you won’t be reviewing it)

    1. Thank you!!! And yes!!! The Marriage Clock was so refreshing and relatable! I feel like City of Brass took a lot of concentration! Near the end it was a bit confusing but I was still on the edge of my seat! And honestly I HAVE NO IDEA how I read so much😂 the ToG series was entertaining! The first two were just eh but it became fun after that! For 40 rules of love, it took me basically 8 months to read it! I liked Rumi’s story but the plot with the wife (i forgot her name already whoops) was kind of pointless for me. It wasn’t the kind of book I would normally read and though I understood why people loved it, it wasn’t my cup of tea🤷🏽‍♀️

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment💜

      1. Haha, well at least one of us enjoyed City of Brass 😁

Ohhh, I get it now. I saw that ToG had either big fans or ppl thought it was lukewarm. Maybe it’s cuz the first 2 weren’t as fun…

Girl, what a coincidence that the author of 40 Love is trending on twitter? And it’s fiction? I thought it was non-fic.

        Shucks, you’re absolutely welcome 😘

      2. Yeah in general the series was entertaining but I’m not obsessed or a super fan (though the merch for the fandom is always so pretty I get jealous because my other fandoms deserve that love)!

Whoa I didn’t know that about trending on twitter!😆
