July Romance Books MINI REVIEWS: Fix Her Up, Let’s Get Textual, Passion on Park Avenue, If I’m Being Honest

Since July was super hectic for me and I don’t have time to write full reviews, here’s some flash reviews for the romance/contemporaries I read during exam season!

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

3.5-4/5: This is SUPER STEAMY. Like… In my opinion this is the steamiest book I’ve read WELP. While I enjoyed the story and the fun tropes, I didn’t like the love interest… sorry! Just didn’t see the appeal!

If you like really intense height differences, fake dating, super steamy smexy times but also really cute banter you would enjoy this! If you enjoy super mopey males paired with really excited passionate females that are basically polar opposites you’ll enjoy this romance! If you also enjoy reading about feisty women banding together to accomplish goals while also trying to maintain healthy relationships, this will be a fun read!

Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter

4.5/5: If my mother saw this cover she would kill me ALSO THIS SOUNDS SUPER PERVY BUT IT REALLY ISN’T I PROMISE. Total of 1 too steamy scene for me but other than that it was honestly super adorable and I loved the banter and the drama was fun! The best book of the month tbh!

If you enjoy the “oops I have the wrong number” trope, you have to pick this up! If you want a quick and fun book to read, this is definitely one I would recommend despite the atrocious cover (sorry not sorry)! If you enjoy dad jokes, banter, people who are passionate about their jobs, fun pranks and goats, this is definitely the book for you! Also if you enjoy nerdy but super hot males that are also funny and overall perfect, this will just make your standards even higher most likely.

Passion on Park Avenue by Lauren Layne

4/5: I love a classic enemies to lovers trope! This has got to be one of the most memorable first lines in a book that I’ve ever read! It was so surprising and funny and I was immediately hooked! I loved the characters and the story and the friendships! The relationship was A+ and while the ending felt rushed, I loved this overall!

If you enjoy rich women banding together and becoming unlikely friends and supporting each other, this is definitely the book for you! If you like enemies-to-lovers, powerhouse women with interesting backstories and character development, men who own up to their mistakes and take care of their father even if he’s a JERK, and drinking alcohol in mugs, you’ll love this book!

If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Broka

4/5: I LOVE SHAKESPEARE RETELLINGS OKAY?! This was a Taming of the Shrew retelling and it was GLORIOUS. They are auto-buy authors for me ever since Always Never Yours so I knew this was going to be fun! I loved to hate Cameron (but also I grew to love her) and the drama and character growth and cuteness was just absolute perfection! Can’t wait for their next one!

If you love Shakespeare retellings, fierce women with some serious flaws that are TRYING to change, unconventional friendships, video game design and photography, cosplaying as characters from Rocky Horror Picture Show, high school drama, and great character development, you will love this book! If you enjoy Sarah Dessen books, you should definitely check their books out!
