Adventures in October 2019

So how was your October? I had quite a bit of an adventure in Miami and because this is my blog and I do what I want, here’s everything I did during my time in a really pretty but also really hot and humid city!

I stayed in an AirBnB with my friend that was walking distance to the hospital I was doing my elective in! The first weekend we just got settled in and got lots of groceries to prepare for the month! IDK why I’m using so many exclamation points!!!!

The second weekend we visited Bayside MarketPlace and that was so fun! I got to visit the Hard Rock Cafe and Bubba Gump Shrimp! Also, I love to collect pressed pennies and I got one for Forrest Gump hehe.

On October 8th I went to Coral Gables and walked around and explored the area! That whole area is so gorgeous and perfect for bookstagram pictures! THEN I went to Books and Books and got to meet Marie Lu! I got my copy of Rebel signed along with an art print that was the pre order incentive!

Things she talked about:

Kingdom of Back (her historical fantasy) was an idea she’d had before Legend and it wasn’t the “right time” but GUESS WHAT?! NOW WE GET TO READ IT! She has a new series next fall that she can’t talk about yet but I AM PUMPED! The character least like her is June. Rebel has lots of nods/easter eggs to Warcross. Her favorite trope is enemies to lovers so WE STAN. She also cried at the end of Champion so at least she knew how much pain she would cause us!

I talked to her about the READALONG I did with twitter friends and how we tried an experiment with Day’s perfect crime (involving ice and oil)! She’s so so sweet!

My sister visited me that weekend and we went to Wynwood Walls which has absolutely beautiful art (and obviously I took tons of pictures for bookstagram)! We took a boat tour at Bayside and watched people dance and have the time of their lives! We also went to the beach and just had a really chill day which was very nice.

My friend and two new friends we made in the hospital did an escape room together. it was pirates themed and really fun! We basically made it through but this last portion we went over by 15 minutes because it was more of a technical thing but not the fact that we couldn’t solve it! So I’d say it was a win even though we went over time… psshhttt technicalities.

I went to Little Havana for Culturales Viernes and I got to meet a wonderful book twitter friend, Kelly (go follow her HERE, she’s so kind and awesome!)! We went on this really interesting walking tour around the neighborhoods and it was so interesting! Plus we had coffee and ice cream, so A++++ day! Plus, any time I can gush about the loves of my life (Tangled, We Hunt the Flame, Percy Jackson) I’d say is a perfect day.

The last weekend in Miami, we watched Hocus Pocus in the park and we also saw a live performance of A Nightmare before Christmas!

Sadly, the month was coming to an end and our elective also ended. I was really proud of myself because I only know high school level Spanish and I managed to take a full history by myself in Spanish! YAY! Accomplishment UNLOCKED.

The last week I joined a readalong for The Beautiful with the Crafty Nic Nax book club and also a buddy read with my friends Monica (TreatYoShelfBookClub on insta) and Astrid (BookLoversbookreviews on insta) for Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon.

ALSO!!! I’m a part of the All-American Muslim Girl Street Team. I’m so pumped to read the book which comes out November 12th! And in more exciting news, I am also a rep for The Tsundoku Chronicles Etsy store. Neelam has absolutely gorgeous bookmarks for lots of amazing books, especially diverse ones. You can use my code STARS10 for a discount and you should definitely check out her store HERE. She also has a bookmark where all the proceeds go for ActionAidUK. It’s an absolutely amazing cause you should definitely check out!
