Rating: 5/5

Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamourous family’s mansion. The next items?
Enjoy a drunken night out.
Ride a motorcycle.
Go camping.
Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.
Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.
And… do something bad.
But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.
Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.
But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior…

I went into this book barely knowing anything about it but knowing it was a rom-com. I find it much easier to listen to funny books through audio even if that means I’ll look like an idiot laughing to myself in public! Right from the beginning I loved the narrator. I had to listen at a slightly slower speed because of the accent, but the narrator was so great and brought life to each and every character with a different style of voice! It was seriously so engaging and fun!
I loved Chloe Brown SO. MUCH. She was so funny and heartfelt and relatable and beautiful! I think it was really interesting to read about someone with a chronic illness (I personally don’t know if it was proper rep so I don’t want to say otherwise but based on other reviews and all, I haven’t seen any problems?).
Also, the secondhand embarrassment I felt whenever something something hilariously humiliating would happen was just HILARIOUS. Honestly, this book excelled at getting me to laugh or freak out!
Red was also just an adorable, witty, hilarious man! I really loved seeing things from his perspective as well. It added so much more depth and it also added to the whole drama (and dramatic irony of course!).
There was so much depth to both characters in my opinion. I loved getting to know both of them individually and together. Their banter and their growing relationship was so beautifully done! I honestly want to go read all the other books by the author because this was such a great book to read!
I’m not someone who tends to read NSFW/Rated R scenes (though I love to read romance… I just end up either skimming or skipping parts that are a bit too expletive for myself haha), so there were a few parts I had to skip just because it wasn’t something I wanted to listen to–obviously, I didn’t take off any points for that because I knew going in there might be a few moments I’d have to skip. Basically what I’m trying to say is definitely make sure your headphones are in if you listen to this in public!
I kept waiting for the big dramatic climax that tends to happen in romance novels and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. IT WAS NOT WHAT EXPECTED AND IT WAS SO GREAT. I LITERALLY GASPED OUT LOUD AND SCREAMED. And the way that it eventually resolved and the ending was SO GOOD. ALL THE FEELINGS. ALL THE PERFECTION.
Anyway, this was definitely a 5 star read and I’m definitely looking froward to reading more from the author!
If you like witty characters, to do lists, cats that definitely aren’t stuck in trees and are extremely clumsy, men who can paint, motorcycles, extremely embarrassing situations, and a great family relationships with extravagant parents, you’ll definitely enjoy this! If you like really sweet romance and super smexy times, definitely check this out!
