Following in the footsteps of her überfamous grandma, eighteen-year-old Evie Jones is poised to be Hollywood’s next big star. That is until a close friend’s betrayal leads to her being blacklisted . . .

Fortunately, Evie knows just the thing to save her floundering career: a public appearance with America’s most beloved actress—her grandma Gigi, aka the Evelyn Conaway. The only problem? Gigi is a recluse who’s been out of the limelight for almost twenty years. Days before Evie plans to present her grandma with an honorary award in front of Hollywood’s elite, Gigi does the unthinkable: she disappears.

With time running out and her comeback on the line, Evie reluctantly enlists the help of the last person to see Gigi before she vanished: Milo Williams, a cute musician Evie isn’t sure she can trust. As Evie and Milo conduct a wild manhunt across New York City, romance and adventure abound while Evie makes some surprising discoveries about her grandma—and herself.

I received this ARC from FierceReads but this does not impact my review which is unbiased.

First of all I have never been so hooked in a romance book as I have with this from the very first chapter. I was already screaming because I knew what exactly would happen and I was just so thrown into the story so quickly!

I had to stop and get someone else to buddy read it with me because I just knew this book was going to make me squeal and scream and I needed someone else to scream with. I buddy read it with Leelynn and you should totally follow her on her blog HERE. I had so much fun discussing the book with her especially because I was just so engrossed in the story and wanting to know how the story would end!

I’m a sucker for absolutely swoon worthy romances like this. The chemistry between the characters was so great and I just loved their interactions so much. Evie had to grow a lot but I related to her because of that and especially because she has a hard time trusting people and letting people in. I really resonated with that. And I also just loved that Milo was just a really chill guy and really countered Evie’s personality in an interesting way.

Besides the obvious chemistry and the sort of “forced proximity” situations, I just really loved a good “finding yourself” kind of story. I also just loved that the format of having news headlines and posters sort of interspersed in between the story to add this other arc about Gigi. That really intrigued me and I loved seeing it all come together!

Also, that one scene in front of the restaurant when the paparazzi was after them? PERFECTION. and that final scene and that ICONIC LINE? YES. (I don’t want to spoil all the fun *wink*)

If you’re a fan of show business drama, disguises that definitely do not work against paparazzi, low-key bands that deserve more hype, trying to find a relative while also finding your true self, and some really *chef’s kiss* drama then you should definitely check out this book! You’ll love this if you enjoy betrayal and romance with a little bit of mystery!
