Taylor swift is single handedly reviving my blogging abilities as usual and with the new album announcement (yes, I did draft this a month ago and forgot to post shhh), I decided to talk about 13 books that keep me up past midnight! This is also serving as a way to manifest the vibes of each track!
1 Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Until I have Bloodmarks and Book 3 in my hands and my head I don’t think I can truly live! Bree is an absolute LEGEND (ha, see what I did there?) and Tracy’s way with words and social commentary plus the epic twists she throws in just when you think you’re safe from utter destruction are truly immaculate. I definitely ruined my sleep schedule because I couldn’t put this book down!
2 All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir
It’s usually heartbreaking and painful books that keep me up past midnight because I can’t stop thinking about the characters! This book truly made me think about how you can never tell what someone is going through and how each person has their own story to tell.
3 Little Thieves by Margaret Owen
Not only is this an epic retelling, Margaret Owen makes her characters so fun and sassy and this truly was just so much fun to read. We love morally grey hilarious characters in this household!
4 The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi
This is truly one of the best conclusions I have ever read in my life. Roshani creates magic with her words and every single character touched my heart in some way!
5 Mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa
Track 5 is notoriously known for being sad and this is basically the most heartbreaking book I’ve ever read and I can’t even recommend it to everyone because it’s so heavy. It’s about Palestine and I had to take so many breaks while reading this because it hurt so much.
6 As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh
I haven’t stopped thinking about this book since. I first picked it up. I truly believe Zoulfa was born to be a writer and the emotions really flowed through this book perfectly
7 Vicious by V.E. Schwab
This book is what really got me into this book blogging journey in the first place! I loved the anti hero vibes and the x men atmosphere. I just had so much fun reading this and loved the superpowers so much!
8 Warcross by Marie Lu
This book left me gasping for air and just stunned to silence. Sci fi usually isn’t my thing but this was a fast paced addicting read and it will definitely have you too stunned to speak.
9 Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty
Is it weird to say I love cliffhangers because this book had one of the biggest cliffhangers ever and I loved every minute of it!
10 Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee
I never thought I’d fall in love with the most intensely morally grey people ever but the politics and family relationships and storytelling are just unparallelled.
11 The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Whenever people advertise this book, it doesn’t really do the book justice at all. I can’t even describe the book but all I know is RF Kuang is a master in her craft and is too smart for me
12 Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong
My one question to Chloe is HOW DARE YOU. This book is a perfect blend of dry humor/wit and historical fiction fantasy like I’ve never read a book that genre blends so well!
13 We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal
We already know I had to include this book, right? The atmosphere, the magic, the zumra? Nothing will compare to how this book owns my heart.
Anyway, what are some books that kept you up past midnight? Would you be interested if I did a follow up to this post with whether or not I think the books match the tracks once the album’s out?
a FANTASTIC list of books, the books that keep us up are always the best! Really want to read “As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow” bc of you ahh, it sounds like such a hard-hitting contemporary! So excited for Bronzed Beasts, I’ve been putting off reading it bc I’m so scared & know I’ll be so emotional as I read it!! Wonderful post ❤
