In the beginning of January, I was in Disney World and I actually finished books on my phone??? Very strange. I hate reading on my phone but it was the easiest to do when in the long lines! Anyway, I read 13 books in January! I read 5 ebooks, 3 audiobooks, and 5 physical books. I also have one DNF: Bookish People by Susan Coll because literally nothing was happening.
Anyway, let’s talk about my favorites! I try to choose a maximum of 3 favorites of each month (it’s too challenging to pick just ONE) so here’s my two favorites:
This first one is an HC title so please be sure to support the HCP Union! I really enjoyed Dating Dr Dil by Nisha Sharma. It’s Taming of the Shrew inspired and the female lead is so relatable PLUS THERE’S A GOL GAPPAY SCENE REMINISCENT OF RAB NE BANA DI JODI.
My other favorite is When You Wish Upon a Lantern by Gloria Chao! I admit I picked this up for the cover but I fell in love with the family and friendship dynamics and of course, the friends to lovers perfection! I got the eARC from penguinteen and it comes out next week!
Honorable mentions include:
Saint by Adrienne Young. I listened to the audiobook thanks for macmillan audio and there’s just something so calming and atmospheric about it! It feels like a cozy fantasy and I loved diving back (ha!) into the world of Fable and Namesake, this time knowing the end result made it rally interesting to see the pieces slowly come together! Plus, the narrators were really great and I really enjoyed the backstory!
Frizzy by Claribel Ortega was a heartwarming and adorable experience! The art style was so cute and the story itself had me teary eyed! If you want something quick and sentimental, this is definitely something to pick up!
