I received this for the publisher in exchange for a review. This does not affect my review which is unbiased and honest.

I truly had no idea what to expect from this book so I was very pleasantly surprised. I read this all in one night and had such a good time. The vibes were just RIGHT. This was like a super wholesome version of the Breakfast Club with a whole found family of misfits!

Guys this has everything you want in a heartfelt cute YA romance! High school drama, found family, the whole bad boy and schoolgirl sort of trope oh my goodness I’m in my feelings just thinking about this adorable-ness.

I love a good 3 dimensional flawed and growing character so I really enjoyed reading in Ellie’s perspective, especially when she had to deal with her cheating ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend being in the same class as her! I’d be angry too! It was just so great seeing Ellie learn to recognize her flaws and insecurities throughout the book (even if she made me so frustrated at times).

My favorite part of the book was definitely the found family. It was so wonderful seeing this group of misunderstood misfits try to dominate home economics class just to win the non existent competition in the class. I loved getting to know each of the characters and see their little quirks and personalities despite being labelled in high school already!

ALSO THIS HAD THE “only call each other by last names” kind of trope I WAS LIVING. The drama wasn’t too much (but Ellie did exaggerate a bit of it) so i overall had a really good time reading this book because it was just what my heart needed at the time.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants just a quick feel good book. If you like bands of misfits, working together as a family for a grade, flawed and three dimensional character that cause drama you should definitely read this book! If you enjoy the whole “bad boy” type of male lead, calling each other by last names, having little secret kisses and looks in class so others don’t find out because you don’t want to cause unnecessary drama, going to horseracing events, and standing up to bullies this is definitely something you would enjoy!
