I couldn’t put this book down and that about sums up the entire experience because what in the world just happened!!!! TRACY HOW DARE YOU. I actually don’t even have the appropriate words to describe how epic this sequel was like… I didn’t think the stakes could get any higher AND THEY DID.

Without spoiling anything, it’s hard to talk about the plot. The world building is just so well done with the magic building on what we know from the first book as Bree learns more about her heritage and abilities. The story flows seemingly naturally and I just know when I re read it I’ll catch all the different signs and be even more devastated. As you all know, Tracy tends to pack a mean punch in the last bit of the book and I thought I was prepared but I WAS NOT.

I think this series just does such a phenomenal job balancing the fantasy elements and friendship/romance with these heavy discussions about racism and generational trauma and loss and healing especially because the plot and the majority of character development is based on this experience.

Of course, the friendships are my favorite, especially my boy Will because he just tells it like it is and is so supportive of Bree and is probably the only one who actually thinks a little logically while the others *cough* Sel *cough* are busy being chaos incarnate.

Anyway, this is all I can tell you in my review because otherwise it’s just all spoilers and all huge gasps and screaming. Shoutout to my friend Ember for listening to all my screaming. (You should definitely check out their cosplays, especially of Bree HERE).
