I received the audiobook from libro.fm. This does not affect my review which is unbiased and honest. I received the ARC for Redemptor as a giveaway prize. My review is unbiased and honest.
I genuinely was left speechless by Raybearer and every time I try to come up with something to properly discuss the book I am rendered useless because this genuinely is one of the best most immersive and most beautiful books I have ever read in my entire life. Tarisai was such an impressive character and the way the story was told l was absolutely brilliant. The characters were so well done and I was attached to every single one of them!
The way this book took common tropes and twisted them into something absolutely unique had me blown away. I was told this was a found family book but the way that the found family was made was unlike anything I’ve ever read. It truly just took everything I know about fantasy and molded it into something completely unique.
It was so cool to see the different cultures of Africa used to describe different nations of this world. All the characters had unique backgrounds and personalities and Hallows. The use of magic in this book was so perfectly woven into the story and usually with audiobooks I don’t tend to enjoy fantasy but this book threw me in and just captured my soul. It was gripping from start to finish!
NOW ONTO REDEMPTOR
I finished this book so fast and genuinely can think of now flaws. It was so absolutely beautiful and engaging and relatable and honestly I just wanted to hug everyone! It was just as good as the first one while also exploring identity even more. I especially loved the whole idea of coming to terms with the fact that there are people that might not agree to change even if they know it’s what’s best for the country.
I also loved the new characters introduced in this book. There were just so many scenes that had me screaming and I genuinely want to re read this book because there was just so much to dissect!
Truly, this was a story of friendship and family, soulmates (platonic and romantic), and self discovery. It was a beautiful adventure from start to finish and made me feel every kind of emotion! It’s definitely one of my top books of the year!
